The Free Software movement is beginning to transform the way we think, learn and work. It is helping to make Information Technology (IT) more accessible to everyone and also promoting the belief that knowledge should be free (as in freedom). Everyone should use Free Software because it gives the users the freedom to use for any purpose, share with others, modify the software and redistribute the modified version. It is particularly suited for developing countries because it helps build expertise locally, retains the money spent on IT in the local community, makes it possible for every community to modify the software according to their needs and makes software available for almost zero cost. Various governments of the world, especially those in the global South, are now beginning to realise the advantages of using Free Software.
We believe that it would be useful and good to have collaboration among the countries of the global south for promoting and implementing the ideals of the Free Software movement. The collaboration can be in the form of sharing experiences, learning from each other and helping each other in actually implementing Free Software for various purposes or any other related issues. This is a huge task partly because of the different languages spoken in these countries and the historical, social and cultural differences.
We have established (Acta reunión CONSEGI) this server (estructures) to facilitate such collaboration. This is a location where resources for learning about Free Software and the tools of Free Software will be made available in different languages, space is available for documenting the experiences of implementing IT solutions using Free Software for various purposes, and tools for quick and efficient communication among the collaborating organisations are available. We hope that, eventually, this will be a place where organisations or even governments can look for information on implementing Free Software for various purposes. This may be considered to be a kind of resource centre for Free Software that is built collaboratively by people in the countries of the global South.

Il movimento del Software Libero sta iniziando a trasformare il modo in cui pensiamo, impariamo e lavoriamo. Esso sta aiutando a rendere la Tecnologia dell'Informazione (IT) più accessibile a tutti e sta inoltre alimentando la convinzione che la conoscenza debba essere libera. Ognuno dovrebbe usare Software Libero perché esso dà agli utenti la libertà di utilizzo per un qualsiasi scopo, di condivisione con altri, di modificare il software e ridistribuirne la versione modificata. Esso è particolarmente adatto nello sviluppo dei paesi poiché aiuta a formare esperti localmente, trattiene (conserva) i soldi investiti in IT nella comunità locale, rende possibile a ogni comunità di modificare il software in base alle proprie esigenze e rende il software disponibile a costi quasi nulli. Diversi governi del mondo, specialmente nel Sud del pianeta, stanno ora iniziando a capire i vantaggi portati dall'uso del Software Libero.
Crediamo che sarebbe buona e utile una collaborazione tra i paesi del Sud del mondo nel promuovere e implementare gli ideali del movimento del Software Libero. La collaborazione può avvenire come condivisione di esperienze, apprendere dagli altri e aiutarsi a vicenda nell'effettiva implementazione di Software Libero per vari scopi o qualsiasi altro argomento a esso relativo. Questo è un enorme compito in parte per via delle diverse lingue parlate in questi paesi e per le differenze storiche, sociali e culturali.
Abbiamo stabilito (Acta reunión CONSEGI) questi server (strutture) in modo da facilitare questa collaborazione. Questo è un posto in cui le risorse relative all'apprendimento del Software Libero e gli strumenti del Free Software saranno resi disponibili in diverse lingue: c'è spazio disponibile per documentare le esperienze relative all'implementazione di soluzioni IT usando Software libero per vari scopi, e strumenti per una veloce ed efficiente comunicazione tra le organizzazioni collaboratrici disponibili. Speriamo che, alla fine, questo sia un posto in cui organizzazioni o addirittura governi possano cercare informazioni sull'implementare Software libero per vari scopi. Questo può essere considerato come una sorta di centro sulle risorse per il Software Libero, costruito collaborativamente da persone nei paesi del Sud.

Todo el mundo debe usar Software Libre porque le da a los usuarios la libertad de utilizarlo para cualquier fin, compartirlo con otros, modificar el software y distribuir la versión modificada. Es particularmente adecuado para los países en desarrollo, ya que ayuda a construir conocimientos especializados a nivel local, conserva el dinero invertido en TI en la comunidad local, hace posible que cada comunidad pueda modificar el software según sus necesidades y hace que el software disponible casi a costo cero. Varios los gobiernos del mundo, especialmente los del Sur global, están ahora empezando a darse cuenta de las ventajas de utilizar Software Libre.
Creemos que sería útil y bueno colaborar entre los países del sur global para promover e implementar los ideales del movimiento del Software Libre. La colaboración puede ser compartir experiencias, aprender los unos de/con los otros y ayudarse mutuamente en la aplicación real del Software Libre para diversos fines, o cualquier otra cuestion relacionada. Esta es una tarea enorme, en parte debido a las diferentes lenguas que se hablan en estos países y a las diferencias históricas, sociales y culturales.
Hemos establecido (Acta Reunión CONSEGI) estos ervidores (Estructuras) para facilitar esta colaboración. Este es un lugar donde se harán disponibles en diferentes idiomas los recursos para el aprendizaje del Software Libre y las herramientas, es un espacio disponible para documentar las experiencias de la aplicación de soluciones de las TI con Software Libre para diversos fines, y las herramientas para la comunicación rápida y eficiente entre los organizaciones colaboradoras están disponibles. Esperamos que, finalmente, este será un lugar donde organizaciones o incluso gobiernos pueden buscar la información sobre la aplicación de Software Libre para diferentes propósitos. Esto puede ser considerado como una especie de centro de recursos de Software Libre que se construye basado en la colaboración de personas en los países del Sur global.
